Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his initial championship for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since spring of that year.

Victory also means Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular outbursts on court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair traded break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first tour victory, took control to push for a third set.

He defended 4 early-game break points in a close final set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
